Artist's Description
This is an image of an oldgrowth forest habitat bordering the chesapeake in maryland. Only 200 acres in size and surrounded on all sides by toxic and destructive human development and flooded with an overwhelming increasing human population, this small example of mature forest can not sustain the biodiversity it once did and most of the rare species are long gone due to over harvesting by collectors and kids capturing the creatures as pets which eventually die in captivity. Between apathy and ignorance, biodiversity in maryland is becoming a tragic part of natural history.
