are they poisonous? just curious.....

No, not venomous, though some speculate that they may have a mild venom that is not dangerous to humans. They prey primarily on toads rarely if ever bite but put on a convincing show to suggest otherwise by striking with a closed mouth, huffing and puffing as well as flattening their heads like a cobra, and if that don't work they will roll over and play dead.
